Actress Beanie Feldstein can be seen in her role portraying Monica Lewinsky for the first time in a new teaser trailer for Impeachment: American Crime Story.

The upcoming third instalment of the acclaimed anthology series will explore the fallout from Bill Clinton‘s affair with Ms Lewinsky in the 1990s.

In the new FX Networks clip, viewers also get a glimpse of Sarah Paulson as the late Linda Tripp, the whistleblower whose secretly recorded conversations with the White House intern led to Mr Clinton’s impeachment in 1998.

Ms Tripp brought to light one of the most notorious pieces of evidence in the scandal – a blue dress that the former intern had told her she was wearing during a sexual encounter in the White House with the president.

Ms Lewinsky is a producer on the series.

The teaser, unveiled on Wednesday, sees Feldstein – best known for Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart and Caitlin Moran’s How To Build A Girl – as Ms Lewinsky, confiding in Ms Tripp.

“The president kissed me,” she tells her.

“Tell me everything,” Paulson’s Ms Tripp says, to which Ms Lewinsky replies: “I’m in love with him.”

Ms Tripp later says: “The blue dress. It would be smart to keep that, uncleaned, in your possession.”

Impeachment will be the third season of prolific TV producer Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed series American Crime Story, following previous seasons dramatising the trial of OJ Simpson and the murder of Gianni Versace.

Clive Owen stars as Mr Clinton, while Billy Eichner will play journalist Matt Drudge.

Edie Falco, an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award-winning actress best-known for playing mob wife Carmela Soprano in The Sopranos, is reportedly set to play Hillary Clinton.

The series, based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story Of The Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down A President, was originally due to air in September 2020, ahead of the presidential election, but production was delayed by the pandemic.

It is now set to air on 7 September.
