Matt Hancock was drenched in slime and custard and pelted with feathers as he took part in his fourth bushtucker trial on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The former health secretary, 44, and his 23-year-old campmate Owen Warner, who plays Romeo Nightingale in Hollyoaks, were voted by the public to do Friday’s trial.

They quickly discovered they would face a jungle-themed version of the game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? given the tweaked name Who Wants To Look Silly On Air?

After learning of the public vote, Mr Hancock laughed and said: “That was the most predictable outcome. It’s called looking silly on air, it will be me then.”

The rest of the campmates watched on as the trial got underway, with presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly explaining they would need to secure 11 stars to feed the whole camp.

The co-hosts asked them six multiple choice questions with 60 seconds to answer each, and the help of various lifelines.

The contestants were doused in brown sauce when they failed to answer who plays Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies – before using the lifeline Ask The Hosts to make McPartlin correctly answer Gary Oldman.

The pair also called campmate Sue Cleaver for help using the Phone A Friend lifeline, for a question that involved the year Coronation Street started.

Unfortunately for Cleaver, she was drenched while taking the call, prompting Warner to shout: “Leave Sue alone!”

After getting more questions wrong, the pair continued to be pelted with feathers, custard and other grim-looking substances before the challenge ended and they were told they had only won five out of the 11 stars.

Warner said: “I’m not happy man, I’m covered in all sorts and we’ve only got five stars. He (Matt) was doing well until you got me on his team.”

The ordeal isn’t quite over yet for Mr Hancock, with Ant and Dec announcing the public has voted for the MP to take part in the next challenge, House of Horrors – marking his fifth consecutive trial since joining the show on Wednesday.

The news was met by laughter from the contestants as well as supportive comments.

Elsewhere in Saturday’s episode, Boy George recalled coming out to his family as a young man.

Speaking to presenter Charlene White, he remembered his early fashion choices, saying: “My mum would say (to my dad): ‘Look at what he’s wearing.’

“And my dad used to get his paper (and drop it down to look) and go: ‘If he wants to get beat up let him go out.’ And that was it you know?”
