Seven people including four children injured after car collides with pedestrians

A child has been taken to hospital by air ambulance following a collision between a car and pedestrians, Sussex Police have said.

Six others were also taken to hospital by road, including three children with potentially serious injuries.

Officers were called shortly after 4.30pm on Monday after the incident on College Road in the West Sussex village of Ardingly.

South East Coast Ambulance said its crews treated and transported six patients – five children and one adult – to local hospitals, three of which have “potentially serious injuries”.

It added that one patient is in a “critical condition” and was transported by air ambulance to St George’s Hospital in London.

Police said no further information is available at this time.
