PARIS — Ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Fever, Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink channeled her inner tennis star with her pregame fit. Rocking the same look that Coco Gauff has been wearing throughout her run at the French Open, Brink talked about her inspiration before the game.
“I’m wearing my little New Balance tennis set. I want to be like Coco,” Brink said.
It should cost a billion to look this good 😮💨

And it didn’t take long for the video to cross the Atlantic — and multiple time zones — and catch the attention of Gauff, who reposted the video to her Instagram story. Following her third-round victory over Dayana Yastremska on Friday, Gauff couldn’t hide her enthusiasm for the gesture and for Brink.
“It was really cool,” Gauff told ESPN. “I haven’t got the chance to meet Cameron yet, but obviously [I’ve] been watching her a lot when she was at Stanford and now seeing her in the WNBA is great, and I definitely want to try to catch a game…
“I wasn’t expecting it, and it was very nice of her. I think she rocked the fit better than anybody could have.”
Gauff then made a request for New Balance, their joint sponsor.
“I hope they give her a signature shoe one day,” Gauff said. “And I can rock it too for my press events. Yeah, she’s awesome.”
Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu are the only active WNBA players with their own signature sneaker, but Nike announced plans for an A’ja Wilson shoe last month.
