Triple murder suspect in ‘serious condition’ as police recover crossbow

The suspect in the triple murder of three women in Bushey is in a serious condition in hospital and is yet to be questioned, police have said.

Kyle Clifford, who was wanted in connection with the killings, was discovered by police in Lavender Hill cemetery in Enfield, north London, on Wednesday following a large manhunt.

The 26-year-old was taken to a London hospital where is continuing to receive treatment. He has not yet been arrested.

Police say a crossbow has been recovered as part of the investigation.

Clifford from Enfield, north London, is suspected of killing Carol, Hannah and Louise Hunt – the wife and daughters of BBC and Sky racing commentator John Hunt.

The three women – aged 61, 28 and 25 – were found in Ashlyn Close, in Bushey, Hertfordshire, just before 7pm on Tuesday.

They had serious injuries and died at the scene a short time later.

Hertfordshire police said it had received no previous reports about Clifford or the victims prior to the deaths.

There have been further police searches at a house in Rendlesham Road, Enfield, on Thursday morning as part of the murder investigation.

Members of police staff were seen wearing gloves and face masks outside the property which was first searched on Wednesday.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victims’ family and loved ones at this devastating and indescribable time. They are being supported by specially trained officers.

“This was an unprecedented attack and we are determined to understand the full circumstances of what happened that evening and the events leading up to it. We are wholly committed to seeking justice for the victims and their family.

“This investigation, as I’m sure people can imagine, will take time. I’d like to reiterate my sincere thanks to the members of public who contacted us yesterday and helped with our enquiries.”
