The family of former One Direction star Liam Payne say they are “heartbroken” by his death.
The 31-year-old singer died after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires on Wednesday.
In a statement, the family said: “Liam will forever live in our hearts, and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul”.
It comes after Alberto Crescenti, head of the state emergency medical system, said on Argentinian television that Payne fell into a courtyard of the CasaSur Hotel in the city’s Palermo neighbourhood.
He declined to answer further questions about the incident, including the circumstances of the fall.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the singer’s death and conducting a post-mortem examination, while stars have paid tribute to Payne.
